What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy system that came to the US from Japan in the late 1930's, and is used to help restore balance that is lost from daily stress and events. Reiki energy helps to promote deep relaxation and eliminate many issues on emotional and physical levels. Reiki means "universal energy" and comes from a higher connection that only works to heal. Reiki provides "energy nourishment" and rids the body of those blocks that leave people feeling drained, helpless and frustrated. Reiki is provided to those who are open to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), and studies have shown the postive effects of Reiki.

Reiki is growing as a complementary technique and is offered in dozens of hospitals that include Norwegian American Hospital in Rockford, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Swedish Covenant Hospital, University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, and North Shore Hospitals.

Healthcare workers, massage therapists, acupuncturists, doctors, nurses and even veterinarians are using this amazing and simple technique to help expedite the healing process.

There are other hospitals in Chicago that offer Reiki as a volunteer or professional service to patients. The new Lurie Cancer Center and Integrative Medicine department at Northwestern Memorial Hospital offer Reiki programs, and Reiki is becoming more popular in the Chicago area as an alternative practice and to complement traditional services. Talk to your doctor about Reiki use for proper monitoring. Debbie is happy to talk to any doctor with questions, concerns or general information.

If you have not heard of Reiki or want to know how it can help you, please contact Debbie for more details. Debbie is offering an informational seminar to healthcare groups and public service organizations and will explain how Reiki can be used in their organizations to promote a healthy and healing environment.

Debbie Walker has worked with clients who are dealing with Lupus, back surgery, stress, depression, migraines, general aches and pains and women who are trying to conceive. Age ranges from 14 to 75 and most have experienced great results with just a few Reiki sessions. Students have traveled from Peru to Sweden for training.

Reiki is not a cure-all by any means, but there is evidence that Reiki has helped to relieve pain, and there are studies that reveal Reiki's positive effects on HIV and cancer remission. (visit www.NCCAM.org).

Debbie Walker produces Reiki Awareness Day, an event that has taken place for the past 3 years. Contact Debbie for more information about future events.

Chicagoland Reiki uses Reiki energy to help those who feel that they would benefit from a Reiki session. Reiki is self-directed and works for only the highest possible good!

Learn how to practice Reiki on yourself and others! Use this wonderful self-healing tool to bring peace and balance to your life and to help eliminate pain and stress.

Debbie Walker teaches Reiki level 1 and 2 in the traditional Western technique that has been used in the US for 40 years. This is the most common form of Reiki and students will be able to use the techniques for self-healing and working with others.

As a Reiki practitioner, Debbie uses this amazing, yet gentle energy system to help release blocks that are stuck somewhere in a person or animal's bio-energy field, commonly known as an aura, so that the body can begin to self-heal.
Debbie focuses on pain and stress management and prevention, and specializes in pre- and post-operative surgery stress management.

Consult with your medical doctor if you are on any medication before beginning treatment and inform them that you are using CAM therapies.
